Chilean National Maritime Authority (DIRECTEMAR) has approved Siport21 Maritime Training Center for developing manoeuvring studies in Chilean ports thereby, this Center will be the unique non Chilean facility with this certification.
This certificate has been approved after an exhaustive analysis of the staff from the Chilean Directorate General of the Maritime Territory and Merchant Marine. They developed a detailed review of the facility and the work methodology according to Chilean authorities.
Therefore, Siport21 Real-Time Ship Manoeuvring Center will be able to officially develop manoeuvrability studies in Chilean port facilities.
Real-Time Ship Manoeuvring Center
Siport21 Real-Time Ship Manoeuvring Center offers the possibility to carry out simulations in any port or navigable area required. Currently, they have in their database three Chilean ports: San Antonio, Talcahuano, and Antofagasta.
The Simulation Center consists of three Real-Time Simulators with the capacity to work individually or synchronized. This scheme also permits the interaction of the ships or ships assisted by tugs, operated by tug masters.
The simulators have real navigation instruments, 3D images of the ports, environmental data, sounds, audible signals, night, and limited visibility scenarios. There is also the possibility of adding tugboat manoeuvres.
Siport21 staff can model the characteristic maritime climate of any area, and the detailed visual environment in 3D, including bathymetry and topography, AtoN, etc. Furthermore, if necessary, it is possible to generate numerical models that reproduce the hydrodynamic behavior of any specific vessel, although a large fleet of representative vessels of different dimensions and typologies is immediately available.
Approved by DNV
Siport21 Ship Manoeuvring Simulation Center is approved by DNV as a Maritime Training Provider in accordance with DNV ST-0029. It is, therefore, the only Spanish training organisation certified with this international quality mark.
The Real-Time Ship Manoeuvring Simulator is as well certified by DNV, under the standard ST-0033 (former DNV GL Sea Skill™ STANDARD FOR CERTIFICATION No. 2.14), for the execution of port design studies (port approach of vessels manoeuvring under different physical and environmental conditions for the adequate layout design of the port, the approach channel and the manoeuvring zones).
Nowadays, the company is immersed in a complete renovation process of the Simulation Center with an investment of more than one million euros. The new facility will be among the best and most advanced simulators in the World.
