Siport21 offers wonderful facilities and experienced staff for developing Training Programmes related to maritime world.

The Siport21’s Simulation Center consists of three Real-Time Simulators with the capacity to work individually or simultaneously.

This scheme also permits the interaction of the ships or ships assisted by tugs, operated by tugmasters. Each simulator has real navigation instruments, 3D images of the ports, environmental data, sounds, audible signals, night and limited visibility scenarios. There is also the possibility of adding tugboat manoeuvres.

Control Room

From the Control Room it is possible to modify different parameters during the simulation, even breakdowns under the ship navigation (blackout, rudder jam, tug failures, etc.) or reading and sailing parameters errors (drift, blockage, …). It is also possible to modify meteorological conditions during the simulation (wind, waves or current speed and direction variations) as well as the visibility (fog, rain, night, …).

The Simulation Centre also has available a Training/Meeting Room where the instructor conducts the briefing and debriefing of each exercise and analyzes the conclusions.

Mathematical and visual models

A virtual model of the port area under analysis must be built. Weather, maritime conditions, port layout, bathymetry, topography, aids to navigation, and other factors are also modeled. Moreover, if it necessary Siport21’s staff can develop ship behaviour numerical models, although it has an extensive library of ready-made vessel models.

Siport21 has more than 120 port models (around the world) and several hundreds of ship models in all types and sizes.

Streaming

Siport21 staff has set up the possibility to join real-time manoeuvring simulation sessions. The streaming real-time sessions are carried out using 7 visual channels: main bridge activity, plan view, 3D perspective and essential instrumentation with simultaneous connection with the attendees via videoconference.

Clients may participate in the simulations as:

  • Users, connecting through a video conference (MS Teams) and giving their commands to the helmsman located in Siport21 Center.
  • Observers following in the simulation sessions carried out by one of Siport21 captains.

DNV Certificates

Siport21 Ship Manoeuvring Simulation Center is approved by DNV as a Maritime Training Provider in accordance with DNV ST-0029. It is therefore the only Spanish training organisation certified with this international quality mark.

The Real-Time Ship Manoeuvring Simulator is as well certified by DNV, under the standard ST-0033 (former DNV GL Sea Skill™ STANDARD FOR CERTIFICATION No. 2.14), for the execution of port design studies (port approach of vessels manoeuvring under different physical and environmental conditions for the adequate layout design of the port, the approach channel and the manoeuvring zones).
