Siport21, a maritime-port engineering consultancy with 26 years of experience and presence in 66 countries, announces its incorporation into the National Working Group on Autonomous Ships, coordinated by the General Directorate of the Merchant Navy (Ministry of Transport).
The Working Group, established at the end of 2020, comprises more than 55 members from industry companies, research groups, universities and public administrations, and is the main national forum for the regulatory, technical and operational development of autonomous ships in Spain. Its role is key drafting legislation, guidelines and specialised training, as well as collaborating with IMO and EMSA.
Siport21’s participation reflects the company’s strategic interest on the development of autonomous ships, aligned with its technological profile and extensive international experience. Among the capabilities that Siport21 brings to the group are:
