After their Maritime Training Provider certification by DNV, Siport21 launches a new Training Programme, a combined International Maritime Organization learning programme: IMO 1.22 (Ship Simulator and Bridge Teamwork) and IMO 1.39 (Leadership and Teamwork).
This course, complying with DNV-ST-0008, is for seafarers of whatever type of vessel, as well as for other maritime industry employees.
The trainees who successfully complete this course will have gained experience in handling ships under various conditions and will make a more effective contribution to the bridge team during ship manoeuvring in normal and emergency situations. They will demonstrate sufficient understanding and knowledge of leadership and teamwork; and will have the necessary skills to perform as watchkeeping officer in charge during navigation.
The course meets the requirements defined in the IMO International Convention on Standards of Training Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCWS), (Manila Amendments 2010). The course will also respond to the anticipated demand with the entry into force this year of the new vessel inspection regime (SIRE 2.0), developed by OCIMF (Oil Companies International Marine Forum).
Since its foundation, the main aim of Siport21 Real-Time Simulation Center Training Programmes is to improve safety in ship manoeuvring, based on the familiarization of seafarers with complex navigation and manoeuvring areas, under the local conditions of each port.
The company, which has already achieved the number of 1.700 seafarers trained in their Maritime Simulation Center, offers tailor-made training programs based on the needs of the client. Including building new scenarios and specific ships. The number of these activities has increased during the last years in response to the concern related to maritime safety and improvement of quality of the Captains, Officers, and Pilots’ training.
These training courses provide seafarers with more confidence and knowledge in new maritime operations or emergency scenarios.
