Objective

The objective of this course is to provide an increased understanding and experience in handling ships under various conditions and the practice of effective bridge procedures, to comply with COLREG 1972 and to observe the basic principles of keeping a navigational watch.

Course content

The COMBINED SHIP HANDLING & BRIDGE RESOURCE MANAGEMENT COURSE includes theory and practice, consisting of a series of lectures required to provide with the necessary background and knowledge and practical exercises performed on a Real Time Ship Handling Simulator. Particular items dealt with in these lectures are illustrated either by including them as part of an exercise or by a separate simulator demonstration. Bridge Resource Management (BRM) and teamwork are also considered in Lecture forms and will be assessed as well during the exercises.
